A good argument against Section 230 protections is that big tech companies are claiming services like Parler are responsible for their users' content anyway. The capital protests were organized mainly on Facebook; Parler doesn't even have group functionality.

Removing Section 230 would level the playing field.

@panicfomo covid twitter is interesting precisely because they have a hard time getting away with censoring it. Too many 100% mainstream scientists and doctors posting stuff going against the current panic.

@kekcoin @afilini yup. That issue can be reduced if you are connected to more distribution servers. But overall I think for public social networking they could do better with having mastodon like URL lookups as a backup to their P2P scheme.

@XBT @BitcoinAustrian I'm not going to be surprised if it turns out to be less effective in the elderly than the trials suggested. Probably some benefit. But not the 75% by the first dose that some have been suggesting.

Hopefully it doesn't make things worse... The trials didn't actually rule that out, and prior attempts at SARS vaccines often made the disease worse.

Israel is at 20%. Though interestingly, it doesn't seem to have slowed the pace of cases yet or deaths yet. They started by vaccinating the elderly, and should have finished the first dose for that population a week ago. So there should be some reduction in deaths by now. But they just posted their highest ever total.
