Another reason to get off of Big Tech platforms

Great explanation of what's really going on re: GameStop.
tl;dr: a bunch of short sellers screwed up by selling more than 100% of the stock that actually exists. They're on the hook for that, and they have to buy it back.
Under this circumstance, buying GameStop stock *is* economically rational. Risky however, because the rules can change...
...and that's why there is a massive media campaign against Wall Street Bets right now. To get the rules changed.
...and they're stepping in to stop people buying GameStop.
Looks like I got in just in time. 😂

Great read on how big tech is censoring legit journalists.

Yes, this is real.
They're finally admitting to the facts on masks, and why they just don't work well enough to matter.

Unpopular Opinion: A lot of people in the US actually want hyperinflation... Of course, they call it debt forgiveness or debt jubilee, but they amount to the same thing.
For everyone else, there's #Bitcoin
@pete @harding Boss level backup achieved!
1. Our machines backup to local backup host L using duplicity. Mostly incremental, but full every ~2 months
2. rsync L to remote host R (R uses btrfs)
3. L sends a .snap file to R
4. cron job on R triggers on .snap file and creates read-only snapshot
Snapshot cleaning (to reclaim disk space) on R is manual at the moment, but should last at least 6 months.
Seems to work nicely. I can even restore stuff from it.
Thank you so much for all your input.
The IETF OpenPGP working group has been reopened and we have a concrete plan to get a crypto-refresh out the door!
Is there reason to believe that we'll succeed this time? I think so. A number of new players (not only Sequoia) have joined the OpenPGP ecosystem over the past few years, and they all seem willing to work together to push the standard forward.
