No issues getting into Mallorca. They didn't even check that I'd actually done a covid test (Spain itself doesn't care).

Amsterdam Schiphol airport seems relatively lax re: covid. Decent number of people not wearing masks without a clear excuse and they don't seem to get hassled.

Of course, the customs officals weren't wearing any, including one standing out in the open in front of the automated passport lines; authorities get to do what they want.

Hopefully Spain is the same...

At Burlington GO train station in Ontario, on my way back to Toronto from the US side of Niagara Falls.

I think the higher end transit services are paranoid about losing their passengers to private vehicles, so are pulling out all the stops to maintain a "clean" image.

Health authorities failing to explain why these novel mRNA vaccines are failing so fast could lead to some serious skepticism of vaccines in general... Traditional vaccines, made with the actual infectious agent, usually provide many years if not a lifetime of protection.

It's not variants: it's a loss of immunity to the same thing.

Also makes risk/reward very different...

That data shouldn't have been public all along; covering that up was fraud.

Creepy: Chicago O'Hare's Global Entry booths can now figure out who you are purely by facial recognition, without you providing your passport at all.

I remember being told by a govt official in a consulting gig a few years ago that the Australia/New Zealand corridor was actually 100% facial recognition, with the requirement to show passports was just for show...
