At Burlington GO train station in Ontario, on my way back to Toronto from the US side of Niagara Falls.

I think the higher end transit services are paranoid about losing their passengers to private vehicles, so are pulling out all the stops to maintain a "clean" image.

@pete almost all of those things are good suggestions and things that should be civilizational defaults at this point: hand washing, touch-less technologies, regular sanitization. it's kind of weird that we as a society hadn't been pushing for these things before.
@pete >But in the long term, it can create problems of its own: if bacterial and viral infections aren’t circulating among children, they don’t develop immunity, which leads to larger outbreaks down the line.

so couldn't that same line of logic be used to argue against our attempts at containing COVID?

@kino Of course! Vaccinating ~100% of people who are very unlikely to be harmed by a natural infection isn't a good idea. Better to save them for those at risk given that covid vaccines are a type that covid probably can evolve resistance too. We use antibiotics sparingly for the same reason.

@kino @pete Yes.

20 years from now the Science™ will say that the best thing public health officials can do is let the virus run wild so it can evolve into less lethal variants as fast as possible. The tacit admission will be that this is why COVID lingered around for years before they finally decided to stop reporting on it and let nature take its course.
@TurboNormie countries that did essentially nothing in re to COVID are doing better than countries that went into lockdown and are now vaccine-obsessed. those who died, died. everyone else that got infected and got over it now have antibodies. herd immunity. @pete
@kino @TurboNormie @pete exactly this. Also virologist Geert Vanden Bossche says introducing a vaccine (any type, not only shitty ones) it's bad because it subjects the virus to an artificial pressure and it starts mutating quicker and "around" the things that made artificial immunity. He says it's better to let it burn out and mutate naturally into maxx infection-min lethality.
@kino @TurboNormie @pete the Virgin "do you have a peer reviewed study for that" Soyentist vs the Chad "sounds reasonable" layman
@MechaSilvio @kino @TurboNormie @pete

Vs the Ubermensch “I listen to the primal white blood collective known as White Jamahiriya for my info.”
@kino @pete should tell china that who welds its own civilians into their apartments letting them starve
