@mattodell @nvk Pretty sure Mastodon can be run behind a Tor onion. It even has a setting for whether or not it a clearnet Mastodon should federate over Tor.

@Hodlonaut @AsILayHodlong Never allow a five year old boy to make naming decisions.

But we can call them tweets. It's not like Twitter can stop us.

@mattodell @nvk I mean, what specifically would he be protecting re: privacy? Other than DMs and some metadata like IP addresses, everything is public.

@EmptyBanks Actually my expectation is that it'd be priced in to a degree already. Twitter stock has been declining for a month or so now.

"Ontario considering implementing curfew similar to Quebec’s, sources say"

Good riddance. What is the actual scientific reason that they think this will have any effect?

Because if you want to restrict people's freedoms, you damn well better be able to cite why you are doing it.

@nic But that is an answer that'd be true for any solution.

@SatsLife "Peaceful Revolution"? Is that like a "Peaceful Protest"? Who do I need to firebomb? 😂

@josh I'll bet you it's closer than you'd expect; many of the likes on Twitter are probably from bots "aging" fake/stolen accounts by simulating real user behavior.

Peter Todd boosted

@czino nah, with the rate the US dollar is going, that's just a temporary problem. 😂

@robep00@bitcoinhackers.org @mir_btc It's good if people are willing to use their real names IMO. But certainly a risk.

@verretor "There are 228 hospitals in Quebec. And there are a grand total of 206 people in intensive care units across the province. Not even one person per hospital. And yet the entire province is under police control, with a brutal curfew and $6,000 fines. Source: quebec.ca/en/health/health-iss " - twitter.com/ezralevant/status/

@nic there are plenty of paid Mastodon hosting services apparently. It's a federated system, so you just need one for yourself.

@orionwl @harding @michaelfolkson @k3tan @stephanlivera The software for Scuttlebutt seems much less mature. Just one mobile client - Manyverse - and there's a lot of rough edges. Also, the protocol seems to inherently make it hard to use the same account on multiple computers as it expects a linear hash chain.

@WClayFerguson@noagendasocial.com well, let's solve the problem of getting people here first. Once we're here the tech can be improved. It also buys time for that to happen.
