If you want to run full-rbf, and don't have any full-rbf peers, you can connect to these nodes:

full-rbf1.tbtc.petertodd.net
full-rbf2.tbtc.petertodd.net
full-rbf3.tbtc.petertodd.net
full-rbf4.tbtc.petertodd.net

...and for testnet:

full-rbf1.tbtc.petertodd.net
full-rbf2.tbtc.petertodd.net
full-rbf3.tbtc.petertodd.net
full-rbf4.tbtc.petertodd.net

I've also made a branch of Bitcoin Core v24.0 with preferential peering, to auto-connect to full-rbf peers:

github.com/petertodd/bitcoin/t

One reason why you should set 'mempoolfullrbf=1' on your nodes, and especially, mining nodes: insane people like Craig Wright would love to find excuses to sue miners for mining double spends.

Better to set the standard now: unconfirmed means unconfirmed.

the apple studio display (which of course has an Ax chip in it and standard iOS-style secure boot/update with personalized-to-serial updates) cannot be purchased in-person with cash if you want the VESA mount. you need to provide payment card info (identity) to get the serialized device. even our monitors are trackable now.

TFW when you block and report someone for spamming every repo with identical code of conduct requests. 😂

Finally got around to fixing my Mastodon node. 😂

Seems like an interesting time for mastodon!

Geothermal's Path to Relevance: Better Heat Transfer and Heat Engines
austinvernon.site/blog/geother

“The fracking revolution has driven a massive shift in the industry away from scientists like geologists and toward practitioners that are often engineers. … Partly this is because there is no need to "discover" shale formations since they have been known to the industry for 100+ years. And partly because the engineering-based learning model has thumped the scientist model recently.”

Interesting.

Neat! Someone put the entire "What Is A Woman" documentary on lightning.video: lightning.video/ee65bf6230290a

I would actually like a legit way to pay for a download of this movie. With Lightning of course.

Texas Wind Power Is Failing Right When the State Needs It Most
finance.yahoo.com/news/texas-w

“A scorching heat wave is pushing the Texas grid to the brink. Power demand is surging as people crank up air conditioners. But meanwhile, wind speeds have fallen to extremely low levels, and that means the state’s fleet of turbines is at just 8% of their potential output.”

Over reliance on unreliable renewables will literally kill people.

"Surprisingly, Tail Emission Is Not Inflationary"

tl;dr: Due to lost coins, a tail emission/fixed reward actually results in a stable money supply. Not an inflationary supply.

Association between School Mask Mandates and SARS-CoV-2 Student Infections: Evidence from a Natural Experiment of Neighboring K-12 Districts in North Dakota | Research Square

“Our findings contribute to a growing body of literature which suggests school-based mask mandates have limited to no impact on the case rates of COVID-19 among K-12 students.”

My 40-liter backpack travel guide
vitalik.ca/general/2022/06/20/

“...and covid defense gear: a CO2 meter (CO2 concentration minus 420 roughly gives you how much human-breathed-out air you're breathing in, so it's a good proxy for virus risk), masks, antigen tests and fluvoxamine.”

I am so unsurprised that Vitalik keeps a bunch of covid paranoia in his travel backpack.

Anatomy Of A Bank Takeover : NPR
npr.org/2009/03/26/102384657/a

“One by one, agents check into a hotel, each quietly offering a pseudonym to the guy at the desk.”

This article is from 2009; even back then hotels were checking ID pretty much every time. How exactly were FDIC employees bypassing that? Or did the journalist just make that up?
