I'd be really curious to know if Biden is wearing a vented, or unvented, mask under that surgical mask.
If it's unvented, that's just crazy paranoia - masks aren't designed to be worn in pairs, and the extra resistance just makes them worse. If it's vented, he may have a point.
The reporting on this isn't clear, thus promoting paranoia:
https://dailywire.com/news/new-york-times-suggests-wearing-two-masks-instead-of-one
'The president of the Pasco Association of Educators claims reopening schools for in-person learning is an example of βwhite supremacy,β and compares listening to concerned parents to following rioters breaking into the U.S. Capitol. He even says concern over student suicide is an example of βwhite privilege.β'
Reminds me of a far-left art school classmate who responded to COVID-19 with "so what if a bunch of white dudes die?"
It's minorities that it hits hardest.
"Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin: βParler Has a Right to Exist,β Apple, Google, Amazon Denying Access to βCommon Infrastructureβ"
You'd expect Vitalik to say that, given how dependant ETH is on Amazon AWS.
'βHaving to take these actions fragment the public conversation. They divide us. They limit the potential for clarification, redemption, and learning. And sets a precedent I feel is dangerous: the power an individual or corporation has over a part of the global public conversation,β Dorsey wrote on Twitter.'
See, I read that as "oh shit, the stock market hates me"

Are any of these guys (besides @pete) on Mastodon as well?

Crisis mode? Or Libertarian Party Mode? π₯³ π

James O'Keefe:βVERITAS INVESTIGATION INTO VOTER FRAUD LEADS TO ARREST.
For those who say "nothing matters" this is for you.
For those in the news media who says there is no such thing as voter fraud and what we do is nothing more than an attempt to "undermine elections," TAKE A SEAT!

You might've heard of NYT's story on a guy who lost his bitcoins.
TLDR: the story is full of bullshit.
The poor guy was a CTO and a founder at Ripple, and has netted hundreds of millions of dollars from Ripple (that launched its own scammy crypto called XRP). Ripple is facing serious security and fraud charges by SEC, and is defending itself in the courts by bullshitting on Bitcoin.
Don't you find it coincidental that mainstream media runs this story the same time the lawsuit is going?
One thing you learn working on Bitcoin wallet software - there is no such thing as deprecated. I am still fielding support requests from people who haven't used Joinmarket in 3,4 or even 5 years sometimes.
I mean, what am I going to say, "sorry no your money is confiscated due to account inactivity" - this is not a bank π
@giacomozucco You couldn't get a more clear example of companies asking that regulation be used to shut down their competition: https://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/city-shuts-down-home-based-food-business-after-investigation
βThe city launched investigations into two complaints of food businesses operating out of people's homes after a coalition of Ottawa Indian restaurateurs raised the issue.β
A good argument against Section 230 protections is that big tech companies are claiming services like Parler are responsible for their users' content anyway. The capital protests were organized mainly on Facebook; Parler doesn't even have group functionality.
Removing Section 230 would level the playing field.
@pete I guess 99% of the people don-'t even see a problem. The same with tests.. in some countries you have to present a negative test to board a plane but as far as I know no company or health administration has setup an authentication scheme. In fact I know some people that faked them since they cost 100$

Picture of the new Denmark vaccine passport. To think just a few weeks ago some troll on the Zcash board was vehemently arguing with me that no county would ever mandate them.
