@bitcoinpasada @jgettbtc @mrcoolbp @parkeralewis @nvk Scuttlebutt goes beyond what a mastodon server can do, as the data is passed peer to peer.
@bitcoinpasada @mrcoolbp @parkeralewis @nvk Not really. User identities are tied to DNS names. Under the hood there are some crypto features that could maybe kinda do some of that functionality. But the software isn't designed for it afaik.
Take a look at Scuttlebutt. It's 100% crypto based, and can operate without any servers at all.
@mrcoolbp @bitcoinpasada @parkeralewis @nvk Note that at a technical level, yes, my server is mirroring some data. But Mastodon just does that for caching to make the UI work nicely. It's not a comprehensive mirroring or anything.
Wondering if we could eventually switch from Github to a pure Git-based system, like git-appraise, i.e., tracking issues and pull requests as git notes. That'd allow us to simply build tooling on top of git instead of going through a centralized web-service.
Not the easiest to get users to use, but with good gateways exposing a simple UI to users could bridge that gap.
Would you use something like this?
@raucao classic video!
@lain @mattodell @nvk @orionwl @waxwing Thanks! Good to see.
@michaelfolkson @rusty ...or a close enough copy.
Gonna start posting here b4 I post anywhere else..
This was a fucking FIRE discussion with @giacomozucco
Enjoy ladies & gents.
@Zachary_BTC @verretor see, it worked: I just distracted you from my _real_ plan: fursuits.
@BitcoinAustrian Using Tusky myself. Haven't tried any others.
@verretor ...which is precisely why resisting is so important. Some people are allowed to be out. The more noise from people being outside, the harder it is for them to check everyone.
Also, late hours are good, because it creates manpower problems as police gotta sleep, and there's a limited number of them.
@alyssa Suspicious....
