If these are the logical skills of the dumb commies that call themselves "right wing", they fucking deserve to be completely cancelled by progressive Big Tech: not for political or ethical reasons, but for Darwinian selection. They are too retarded for the world.

@formerlydoc "Help me, Mr Government, Sir, I'm a poor statist loser and I just cloned my shitty version of existing services and nobody care, and also incumbents don't facilitate adoption within their own supporting service! Boo Hoo! Tax and regulate my competitor more...FOR FREEDOM!!!"

@giacomozucco There's nuance in all of this. As we lose access to general purpose computing, which is happening fast on mobile, it soon gets to the point where there is no feasible way to compete. I can't make a better Twitter if users can't use it on their phones.
Mastodon could easily get to the point, especially on Apple. There is no good way for users to install non-Apple-approved software on their phones.
...and on Android, notifications are hobbled.

@pete This is true, and scary, but it's still nonsense to think that a left-wing/cancel-culture government would use legal (=violent) control over Internet speech to facilitate competition, in such a scenario. If anything, the very same government conservatives want to involve is the one pushing against general-purpose computing.

@giacomozucco But the difficulty in getting such laws implemented is orthogonal to the effect of them if they did exist. Also, just having laws on the books creates inertia to keep the status quo enforced by those laws.
Postal mail and railways both have laws enforcing equal access for all, and there's been little success at rolling back those provisions (they're why you can ship a tanker car of chlorine through a residential neighborhood...).

@giacomozucco good!
I don't think you need an ideal effect. Just anything that gums up the rapid moves to locked down boxes would be enough. Fact is if we don't preserve this *somehow* we're all kinda screwed. Not just for social either: Bitcoin wallets...
It'll be very interesting seeing what Biden's attitude towards bitcoin is. First presidency where it's big enough that you can't easily ignore it.

@Bill_Smith @giacomozucco The MMT crowd is desperate to stop all forms of durable, liquid, wealth. They're even trying to create mandatory registration of artworks and collectables, to ensure they can tax/track/take them if needed.

Yep.

@pete @giacomozucco
I am not optimistic that Biden will leave bitcoin alone. He seems to have a lot of MMTrs around him (ie Rohan Grey et al) and they seem very hostile to Bitcoin. My impression is the MMTrs think Bitcoin will gum up their works.
