Hypothetically if we wanted to make Bitcoin Mastodon a thing, what would it take? Do we have to make Bitcoin Mastodon content more appealing than Bitcoin Twitter?
Any ideas on how this would happen?

@ibz @verretor @stephanlivera The fact that Parler is going to be down due to censorship in another hour or two certainly helps the case for Mastodon. 😂
@pete @verretor @stephanlivera Yeah, I was shocked when people on Twitter were like "this sucks, let's move to Parler". Like "USD sucks, let's convert our cash to EUR". Really?
@pete @ibz @verretor @stephanlivera How many bitcoiners even know 'what' Mastodon is? Its never come up on my Twitter feed ever & I follow all the main handles.
@KyleJayBonnell @pete @ibz @verretor this isn't our first rodeo here on Mastodon, we've tried it at least 2 times before. Though arguably this time is better than prior attempts
@KyleJayBonnell @pete @verretor @stephanlivera Most don't. And if they heard about it, they think it's just another Parler. Which it really isn't.
The cool thing is you can join on bitcoinhackers.org in 3 minutes, then later you can set up your own instance and migrate your account over.
I really think some of the bigger accounts should talk about these things. Hence I keep bugging Stephan. ;)

@ibz @KyleJayBonnell @verretor @stephanlivera I think it's easier with the more tech-oriented side of bitcoin, because they do tend to know what mastodon is.

@TheMadHodler @pete @verretor @stephanlivera The server you are on now (bitcoinhackers.org) is set up by @nvk so you are essentially trusting him not to censor you, etc.
You can set up your own if you wish so and migrate there while still keeping your followers. And people from other servers can still follow you.
This is the beauty of Mastodon.

@pete @verretor @stephanlivera It has to be "cool" for bitcoiners. For me it already is. It's totally in the spirit of Bitcoin. Decentralized. Unstoppable. Run your own instance/node. Maybe if some of the bigger accounts talk about it in this way (rather than "let's just move to something else like Parler") people will get it.
