Historical accounts on how theories were developed are super interesting. We’re taught the end result, but the thought processes that went into developing the theory can be interesting as well. In the case of quantum mechanics, Born notes it involved “systematic guessing”.

Heck, part of my thesis paper in university was a step-by-step description of how Newtons Law of Universal Gravitation could have conceivably been derived from first principles, purely based on what it must have been for the universe to work. The possible solution space is very constrained!
