My friend who is an auxiliary nurse is really pissed that her daughter had to wear those “potentially toxic” masks. They're the ones that they gave to children at her school.
She's not allowed to say what she thinks on social media so I'm relaying messages.
@verretor If you have to wear a mask, try to wear a pure cotton bandana.
Organic materials aren't automatically safe to breath. But at least they'll almost certainly degraded quickly rather than potentially stick around to pose a long term threat. Your lungs _should_ be able to expel inorganic materials if they aren't nanoscale. We breath in lots of inorganic rock dust after all. But why take chances for no gain?
@pete Seriously, if my child had been forced to wear the masks in the article, I'd walk into the principal's office without a mask to bitch about it.
@pete @verretor There's washable/reusable cotton masks with nose clips so you can wear glasses without fogging them up.
