Ok, zoomers.lol is now backed up every second day¹. The only thing not fully prime-time ready yet is the mail server (low rep, marked as spam). But since registration is with approval only (you better be a zoomer 😜) that's ok, I can manually confirm the email with 1 more click. So join if you want @nikcantmine, @xyse, @afilini

¹Damn these media files are big … otherwise I'd do it more often, maybe I'll write something to deduplicate the data.

@sebx2a @nikcantmine @xyse @afilini Try sending me an email through it: pete@petertodd.org

I'm curious to see if my setup marks you as spam.

Does it get blocked by gmail?

@pete Sent!

Idk about gmail, mainly experienced protonmail directly rejecting the emails so far. My University account receives without issues.

@pete Thx :) I'm not feeling like getting any more into mutt than strictly necessary for now and won't answer 😅

@pete I mean I kinda like the esthetics and general concept of being able to read your mail in the terminal, but it's yet another tool with a steep learning curve and for that I don't really use email enough to suffer through it (for now).

@sebx2a "don't really use email enough"

God damn zoomers... :D

@pete I tried with my gmail account, they accept it but put it into spam (but possibly because I just wrote a test mail and their AI thinks it's super smart). The weird thing about Protonmail is they outright reject it for being spam with a 550 error.

@sebx2a There's probably ways to fix all that... but why bother? Sounds like you don't actually need email anyway.

@pete My best guess is that they use some spamhaus IP list which seems to automatically block everything until you petition for removal and that either doesn't work or takes a loooong time.

But yeah, if I really wanted to solve that problem now I'd add the domain to my protonmail account and let them do the dirty business.

@sebx2a You're using a really cheap VPS hosting service, so no surprise there.

Really cheap... damn, maybe I should move some stuff to them... those are good prices. :D

@pete They are really competitive. So much even that when I want to run a service without worrying about it I get a VM there instead of putting it on one of my (too many) hardware servers that also have great uplink through my university, but no redundancy beyond RAID storage. I really need my own HA cluster 😅 but Contabo is just too cheap to justify it.
