@nvk @pete Unless you can lock new signups and go invite only on this instance. Then others can start a couple related instances and invite the exodus from Twitter there.

@Clashicly @nvk Yup. If spam from new accounts was an issue invite-only/request-to-join is a perfectly good option. Can probably automate it eventually with a LN payment.

@pete @Clashicly @nvk this would actually be a great use case for LN. The payments can fund the maintenance of the instance. I’m definitely down for paying to help support the community discussion. Would best set it up as a 501.3(c) if creating a US entity.

A crazier option would be to set it up in an independent legal jurisdiction, e.g. the “citadel” I helped start in Honduras, Ciudad de Orquídeas.

@pete @Clashicly @nvk not to mention, it would self select based on competency and willingness to use LN. Provided the forum actually created a net value it would persist.

@pete @nvk Will try to spin up a bare metal Mastodon to keep the exodus going. I'll post up links when this is done.

@Clashicly @pete @nvk Right now users are coming to bitcoinhackers to sign up. they need to be pointed to the next server to keep from losing them. That server takes on the next 5000. Then repeat to the next. Then a centralized list of usernames to follow.

@bimmer @pete @nvk There's going to be a bit of lead time. I went bare metal for mirrored disks and not block storage. Need to wait 3 days for them to rack and provision. Hopefully someone else can spin up faster in the meantime.
