@MultiBitcoiner I wouldn't use them. @nvk can read them.
@karozagorus @MultiBitcoiner @nvk one reason yes! Also in general, if I'm going for decentralization, I should go for decentralization.
Not that hard to setup either. There's a almost one-click option that sets up one as a new VM on digital ocean.
@karozagorus @MultiBitcoiner @nvk you could, and yes it would leak your IP. Though you could use a VPN.
VPSs are cheap. The one I'm running this on is their second lowest, at $10/month.
@pete @MultiBitcoiner @nvk I didn't manage to figure out how to run a VPN through a synology nas or a router
@karozagorus @MultiBitcoiner @nvk I'd suggest a.VPS then. They're pretty easy.
@pete @MultiBitcoiner @nvk anywhere I can get one for bitcoin or cheap ass money?
@karozagorus @MultiBitcoiner @nvk so mine is being hosted on digital ocean. I haven't used a Bitcoin only VPS for awhile, so no idea what's good these days.
@pete I heard lunanode is being recommended.
Vultr accept Bitcoin as well but to start with you need a cc when signing up I think.
@goodc0re it's a pity Scuttlebutt is a bit too immature to really work out. Truly decentralized, to the point where you don't even need the internet.
@pete @MultiBitcoiner @nvk could I set it up on my NAS at home? would that leak my home IP?
